Seedance 2.5

ByteDance’s current flagship video model: 4 to 30 seconds in one take with its own synced audio, from a prompt or from a still. 95 credits for five seconds at 480p.

Seedance 2.5, image to video from our demo still. 480p, 5 seconds, 95 credits, about five minutes. Prompt: “Gentle camera push-in; hair and fabric move in a light breeze; soft natural light.”

Seedance 2.5

Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance’s video generation model that produces clips of 4 to 30 seconds with their own synchronised audio, from a written prompt, from a first frame, or from a first and last frame. Use it when the shot needs length and sound in one pass, and 720p is enough.

It runs here in the editor on the left, priced per second of output: 19 credits at 480p, 43 at 720p, so a 5-second 480p clip is 95 credits and a 30-second 720p one is 1,290. The exact figure is on the Create button before you spend anything. There is no 1080p on 2.5; Seedance 2.0 has it.

What Seedance 2.5 does that the others here do not

Two things. It will run 30 seconds as a single continuous take, and it will choose the length itself: set the duration to auto and the model picks what the prompt needs, billed against the 30-second ceiling and settled on the real length. Wan 3.0 also reaches 30 seconds; nothing else in the studio passes 15.

The audio is generated with the picture rather than added after, so footsteps, water and voices land where the motion is. If you want silence, switch audio off before generating; it is cheaper to leave the track out than to strip it later.

Our test

The clip at the top of the page is a real job, not a vendor showreel. We uploaded the still from our home page, wrote one sentence, and generated at 480p for 5 seconds. It cost 95 credits, took about five minutes, and came back as an 852×480 MP4 of 5.1 seconds with an audio track. The frame took the shape of the still: with a first frame supplied, Seedance forces the ratio to adaptive whatever you pick.

The same still and the same sentence went through Wan 2.2, Wan 2.7 and Wan 3.0, so you can compare the four on one shot rather than on four different prompts.

Auto length and editing a clip, measured

Two more real jobs, both run through this page’s editor on 2026-09-24. Auto length from a text prompt at 480p: the model chose 10.1 seconds, so the 570 credits reserved for the 30-second ceiling settled at 192 and the 378 difference came back as a refund line on the account. Editing an existing 5-second clip at auto length — the prompt asked for a rainy night version of “video 1” — came back as a 4.7-second clip at the clip’s own shape, billed as 4.7 output plus 5 input seconds at the reference rate: 117 credits, with 303 of the 420 reserved refunded.

So the ceiling is what the button quotes, not what you pay; the price settles on the length that actually came back. Both jobs took about four minutes.

Seedance 2.5 or Seedance 2.0?

2.5 for length and sound, 2.0 for the final render. 2.0 tops out at 15 seconds but offers 1080p at 79 credits a second and is cheaper at every shared size: 15 credits a second at 480p against 19, 32 at 720p against 43. If the take is under 15 seconds and you will want it sharp, 2.0 is the better spend; if it needs to run long or the audio matters, 2.5.

How to run Seedance 2.5 here

  1. 1. Start from a still, or from the prompt alone Add a picture to animate it (an ending frame is optional), or leave it out and the clip is generated from the prompt.
  2. 2. Or drop in a clip to change or continue it Add a video of 2 to 30 seconds and tell the prompt what to do with “video 1”: describe the change to edit it, or ask it to continue. Set the length to Auto for an edit.
  3. 3. Write one sentence Subject, action, camera, setting, light. The model reads captions, not tag lists.
  4. 4. Set length and size Start at 5 seconds and 480p, or pick Auto and let the model choose up to 30 — you are refunded down to the real length. The Create button shows the exact credits, or the ceiling for Auto.
  5. 5. Create Expect three to six minutes. You can leave the page; the clip waits in History.

When not to use this

  • 1080p output. Seedance 2.5 stops at 720p. For a 1080p take use Seedance 2.0 or Wan 3.0.
  • A fixed aspect ratio from a still. With a first frame the model takes the image’s shape and ignores the ratio chips; crop the still first if you need 9:16.
  • Fast iteration. Four to five minutes a clip is fine for a take you keep and slow for finding a prompt. Work the prompt out on Grok Video 1.5 at 25 credits, then bring it here.
  • Readable text in frame. Signs and captions come out as plausible nonsense, as on every model here.
  • Footage of a real person who has not agreed to it. A likeness in a first frame or a prompt is not what this is for.

Questions people ask

How much does Seedance 2.5 cost?

19 credits a second at 480p and 43 at 720p, where 1 credit is one US cent. A 5-second 480p clip is 95 credits; a 30-second 720p clip is 1,290. The figure is shown on the Create button before the job starts, and a failed job is refunded.

How long can a Seedance 2.5 video be?

From 4 to 30 seconds, generated as one continuous take. Or choose Auto: the model picks the length, the 30-second ceiling is reserved, and the unused part is refunded once the clip exists — our auto test came back at 10.1 seconds and settled at 192 of the 570 reserved.

Does Seedance 2.5 generate sound?

Yes. The audio is produced with the picture, in sync with the motion, and can be switched off before generating.

Can I start from an image?

Yes: a first frame, and optionally a last frame to move between. The clip keeps the image’s aspect ratio; the ratio setting only applies to text-to-video.

Is Seedance 2.5 free?

No. Every generation costs credits because every generation costs us money upstream, and the cheapest clip here is 76 credits (4 seconds at 480p). The cheaper way to test an idea is Grok Video 1.5 at 25 credits for 5 seconds, then re-run the finished prompt on Seedance.

Can Seedance 2.5 edit or extend a video I already have?

Yes. Add the clip (2 to 30 seconds) in the Video slot and refer to it as “video 1” in the prompt: describe the change to edit it, or ask it to continue the shot to extend it. The clip keeps its own shape, and you pay for its length plus the output at the reference rate — 12 credits a second at 480p, 26 at 720p. Set the length to Auto for an edit.
