Resolution is not the same as detail

Resolution is the number of pixels in each frame, such as 1920 × 1080 for 1080p. Detail is what those pixels actually show. Exporting a 480p video at 1080p in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or any other editor raises the resolution but calculates each new pixel from its neighbors, so the detail stays at 480p and edges look soft.

Keep the aspect ratio

A 4:3 frame at 1080 pixels high is 1440 × 1080. To fit a 1920 × 1080 timeline without distortion it needs bars at the sides, or a deliberate crop. A vertical 9:16 video at Full HD is 1080 × 1920. Stretching any of these to fill a different shape makes faces look wide or thin, and no amount of upscaling hides that.

Higher resolution usually means bigger files
